Beneath the sea

This world was too ugly for you.
I liked it just as it was, but I imagined new worlds,
innocent,
for you
to fly freely beneath the seas.

Today I’m afraid to imagine anything else.
It’s like I don’t even have the strength anymore.
Even the little one doesn’t giggle inside anymore.

Children who love each other hug each other standing” – Prevert whispers to me.
Partly correct, dear Jacques;
children who love each other hug each other standing, but beneath the sea,
where nothing can touch them.

it is written in stars and shells
and in the regulation of children’s love,
that beneath the sea is the only pure place left on earth.
